Pre-sales Q & A
Pre-sale questions and answers on all Yinn.ca products and services. All pricing and software license questions can be asked here

What are the different ways I can make calls with your service?

You can use our Yinn Service in many ways, depending on your access to a telephone or computer:
  • Using an Access number. You can call from your home, office, payphone or mobile number using our access numbers. A list of countries where we have local or toll free access numbers can be found in the RATES page. Click here to view how to use our access numbers(link to rate page).
  • Using our softphone . You can call from your computer using our softphone. (Download our IAX softphone by clicking here.) (link to that page)
  • Using our callback service. World travelers can use our callback service to make inexpensive calls from anywhere in the world.
  • Using our Web-based call now system. Calls can be activated from your computer by telling Yinn the number to call and the number you are calling from. Our system will then call you; when you answer, the system will automatically call the number you want.
  • Using an Office PBX (Asterisk IAX or SIP). You can make calls directly from your office PBX system if your PBX can handle IAX or SIP (most PBX systems can). PBX integration with the Yinn service takes a matter of minutes and you will save a lot of money each month with this method!
  • 6. Using a VoIP gateway. Using any IAX or SIP VoIP gateway or adapter you can make calls using Yinn. Setup takes a matter of minutes and equipment from vendors like Sipura, Quintum, Grandstream, Polycom, Cisco are supported.

Do you charge a setup fee?

When you sign up for Yinn service and deposit call credit there is no setup free. If you buy a personal number there may be a setup fee depending on the number. Most personal numbers do not have a setup fee. You can see pricing for the personal numbers in the online shop.

What is the cost for forwarding a personal number to my IAX or SIP line?

It depends on what kind of personal number it is. If its a local number then the cost is 0.003/min. Very cheap. If its a USA toll free number its currently 0.056/min. You can find the current rates on the rates page at www.yinn.ca. You need to choose "USA Personal Numbers" or "USA/Canada Toll Free" in the picklist to get the rates. Then look at SIP or IAX for the per minute rate.

Can I send faxes through your service?

Not at this time. We only route voice calls.

I want a customized IVR system. I am tired of paying high E1 connection fees, hosting fees, and then having to maintain a server. In addition, I need custom programming for my IVR and I can't find anyone who can do this.

We can customize just about anything you can imagine and do all of this on our server. This will eliminate your high monthly fees. We can give you very cheap DID's too for your incoming calls.

We bill out hourly for all custom development work. Please contact Yinn Sales to get started.

Why can't I dial my mobile number 078137xxxx. When I call this number from my computer it does not ring. I am told there is no one available to take the call.

This number does not exist "07813791888"

There is no country code "078". The proper way to dial a number is country code + area code + number. In general, you do not have to dial 00 or 011 or any other prefix before the country code when dialing any number.

Using a mobile phone to access your admin center

You can access your Yinn administration center from any cell phone using GPRS, WIFI or G3. We have a special light version of the administration center. Use this URL to login: https://secure.yinn.ca/login

I am having problems with the sound quality when calling from a softphone.

You should call the 441 echo test number. There is no charge to call this number. Calling 441 allows you to speak and the system will echo back to you everything you say. This will test your internet connection and its affect on your voice quality.

If you hear yourself very good then you should be able to make phone calls with good call quality. If you hear yourself very bad then you have a bad internet connection between you and our server or your IP phone configuration is not configured properly.

Why is my account locked?
All initial signups with the Yinn service that use a credit card or Paypal are locked. After we have verified the transaction as a real one and not fraud the account will be unlocked and activated. Subsequent payments using the same form of payment (same CC or paypal account) do not have to be verified.

We send email notification of an account being locked upon signup. If you think you did not receive this email check your spam filters of your email program. If you use gmail, yahoo or similar email services check your spam box for this notice.

To facilitate activating your account, call our office at 1 8777399119 or 514 7399119

I cannot recharge my account because my monthly limit has been reached. What can I do?
If you have a good account track record we can increase your limit so you can recharge your account

Auto-Recharge

Why did my account auto-recharge
When you signed up the auto-recharge box was checked. Therefore, when your balance went below your auto-recharge setting the account was recharged.

I made a Paypal payment but where is my account information?
If you signed up at our site www.yinn.ca and made a successful Paypal payment you will be looking at an approval page on the Paypal site. At this page there is a link you need to click to CONTINUE the signup process. If you did NOT click this "continue" link your Yinn account will not be completed.

If you did click the "continue" link you will be at a page where you can choose your username and password to create your account.

If you made a Paypal payment and did not complete the signup process, you need to contact Yinn support.

When calling the TF access number it keeps asking me for my PIN code. But I have already added my mobile phone number to the pinless settings page in my admin center. Why doesn't it recognize my mobile number?
Mobile carriers in Canada do not pass CallerID on calls to TF numbers. It is replaced with a geographic specific number instead. For example, if you are in Toronto with the same cell phone and calling our TF access number, CallerId will be displayed as coming from the Toronto region. This is a known problem with Canadian mobile carriers. You will need to enter your 12 digit pin code when calling the access number to make a long distance call.
